Sr. Mary Paul McCaughey, O.P. to speak at SXU’s Theology South lecture series on Feb. 3 Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic Schools Superintendent to disc
Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic Schools Superintendent to discuss “The Face of God in Schools”
Chicago (Jan., 2011) Chicago (Jan., 2011) Chicago (Jan., 2011) Sr. Mary Paul McCaughey, O.P., superintendent for the Catholic schools for the Archdiocese of Chicago will speak at Saint Xavier University's Theology South lecture series on Thurs., Feb. 3 at the University's Chicago campus, 3700 W. 103rd St.
The event, which costs $6, begins at 9 a.m. in the Butler Reception Room. Coffee will be served upon arrival followed by McCaughey's lecture, titled "The Face of God in Schools," at 9:30 a.m.
McCaughey has 38 years of experience in Catholic schools. Born in Chicago and raised in an Irish-Catholic home, McCaughey attended Catholic elementary schools and Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights. She later taught at Marian Catholic for 15 years and became principal in 1992.
McCaughey earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Quincy University. She also holds a master of arts degree in Theology from St. Louis University and master of science in institutional business administration from the University of Notre Dame. In addition, she earned her educational administration certification through DePaul University, and began doctoral coursework in Theology and the social sciences at the Chicago Theological Seminary.
