Saint Xavier University implements Campus Alert System

Chicago – Saint Xavier University will implement a new Campus Alert System beginning today to text message student, faculty and staff cell phones in the event of a campus emergency.

This service will not be used for routine University communications. It will only be used to advise students and staff of an actual emergency such as dangerous situations on campus, tornados or campus closings.

Students, faculty and staff have been asked to verify cell phone information in order to receive text messages.

“Saint Xavier University President Judith A. Dwyer believes this campus alert system is needed in light of the tragic events at Virginia Tech University and Delaware State University,” said Calvin J. Williams, vice president for information resources and technologies. “The safety of our students, faculty and staff is paramount, and this technology allows us to communicate quickly in the event of a campus emergency.”
