SXU University Relations wins two prestigious Golden Trumpet awards

Winning entries: “Saint Xavier University Cougar Football” and “Common Vision, Common Good”

Chicago (May 9, 2011) Saint Xavier University’s Office for University Relations received two Golden Trumpet awards for its television football coverage and its University magazine at the Publicity Club of Chicago’s 52nd Annual Golden Trumpet Awards Luncheon on May 6 at Chicago’s Palmer House Hilton Hotel. The Golden Trumpet Awards is the premier awards competition for Chicago's public relations and communications professionals. The coveted awards are presented for excellence in planning, creativity and execution.

University Relations received a Golden Trumpet in the "Video News Releases and Films" category for the second year in a row. The winning entry, titled "Saint Xavier University Cougar Football,” is a compilation of comprehensive Chicago TV News coverage originating from video highlights of the SXU football team’s historic 2010 season. The Cougars finished 13-1 overall, sweeping through the regular season with a perfect 11-0 record and claiming the Mid-States Football Association Mideast League crown for the second year in a row. The team was ranked as high as No. 3 in the NAIA's weekly Top 25 Poll, according to the SXU Athletics Department's Sports Information Office.

The Office also received a Golden Trumpet in the “Newsletters or Magazines” category for its fall 2010 Saint Xavier Magazine, “Common Vision, Common Good.”

"The Golden Trumpet Award is the most prestigious of its kind in the Midwest," said Robert Tenczar, vice president for University Relations. "We are pleased to accept this distinguished award and grateful to the Publicity Club of Chicago for this honor, as well as for our strong relationships with Chicago television stations."

According to the Publicity Club of Chicago website, "The Golden Trumpet Awards vividly demonstrate that the creativity and innovative programming by Chicago and Midwest public relations professionals lead the nation in inspired work and enviable results."
