Award-winning Chicago Public Media radio host Jerome McDonnell to speak at SXU
Jerome McDonnell, host of
Chicago Public Media's "Worldview" radio program, will speak about
global activism at Saint Xavier University's 13th Annual Honors
Program Guest Lecture on Thurs., Oct. 25.
McDonnell's lecture,
titled "Developing Global Activism: Stories from the Front Lines," is
scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the Butler Reception Room, located in the Warde
Academic Center at SXU's Chicago campus, 3700 W. 103rd St. This
event is free and open to the public.
McDonnell will describe
how the philosophy and strategy of activist groups develop over time. He will
supply stirring examples and stories from the global activism series on
“Worldview."
McDonnell has hosted "Worldview,"
a daily international-affairs radio show, for the past 18 years. From
Nicaraguan sweatshop workers to Nobel Peace Prize recipients, he provides a
forum for voices that go beyond the headlines. He received a Peter Lisagor
Award for outstanding contributions to journalism and was awarded "Best
Public Affairs Program in a Series” by the Illinois Broadcasters Association.
