SXU hosts Senior Art Show

“Juxtaposition” artists’ reception on Sat., April 24

Chicago (April 14, 2010) Saint Xavier University Senior Art and Design students will exhibit their thesis works from April 19 to May 5 at the SXU Gallery located in the Warde Academic Center at the Chicago campus, 3700 W. 103rd St., and the Visual Arts Center Gallery, 10435 S. Spaulding.

The show, titled “Juxtaposition,” is free and open to the public. It includes an artists’ reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the SXU Gallery and from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sat., April 24. Shuttle transportation will be provided between the galleries.
The following students, with their media and hometowns, are featured in the exhibit:

  • Justin Bozzelli, multimedia, Chicago
  • Leonardo De La Rosa, Jr., painting, Blue Island
  • Angela Helwich, ceramics & multimedia, Orland Park
  • Rachael R. Lang, bookmaking, Menomonee Falls, WI
  • Elyse Mead-Jones, graphic design, Chicago
  • Antonio Medina, Jr., comic illustration, Justice
  • Bridget Mitchell, mixed media, Oak Lawn
  • Michelle Richardella, painting, Blue Island
  • Gabriela M. Richards, photography/collage, Evergreen Park
  • Michael Uher, multimedia, Evergreen Park
  • Samantha Wascher, photography, Tinley Park

SXU Gallery to host “Extended” art exhibition

Exhibit runs until Feb. 17 with artists’ reception on Feb. 10

Chicago (Feb. 5, 2010) Saint Xavier University’s Art Department is hosting a faculty art exhibition from now until Wed., Feb. 17 at the SXU Gallery located in the Warde Academic Center at the University’s Chicago campus, 3700 W. 103rd St.

The exhibition, “Extended,” highlights SXU’s extended campus and the new Visual Arts Center. The exhibition will showcase works by faculty members who teach at the new facility. Additionally, there will be an artists’ reception from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 10 at the SXU Gallery.

Faculty showcasing their works include: Amanda Joy Calobrisi, painting; Marie Cassidy, watercolor, collage and photography; Kristin Tomsits-Dunn, graphic design; William Guy, photography; Mary Jo Krysinski, silver and gemstone jewelry; Susannah Papish, painting; and Chris Schedel, photography.

The exhibition is partially funded by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency that strives to encourage the development of the arts throughout Illinois and assists artists and arts organizations in Illinois.
