Free health screenings available at the SXU 7th Annual Health Fair
Open to public beginning at 8:30 a.m. on March 26
Chicago (March 8, 2010) Free health screenings, assessments and information are available at Saint Xavier University’s 7th Annual Health Fair from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, March 26, at the Chicago campus Shannon Center, 3700 W. 103rd St. The fair is free and open to the public.
“It is important that people of all ages have the opportunity to learn how to live and maintain a healthy lifestyle,” said Jennifer Kjos Quinlan, event organizer and Shannon Center facility manager. “The SXU Health Fair is a one-stop shop to receive free health screenings, instructions, mini massages and much more provided by local vendors.”
The fair offers free screenings and testing services for blood pressure, prostate, hearing and vision screenings, foot screenings, cervical spine screenings, blood glucose screenings, bone density, injury assessments, postural assessment, shoe assessments and more. Other free services include reflexology and mini chair massages. Nutrition, heath, and wellness information is available, as well as healthy cooking demonstrations and 30-minute nutrition and diabetes presentations.
Representatives from SXU’s Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, Ludden Speech and Language Clinic, Health Center, School of Nursing, and the Shannon Center will be present at the fair. Participants can purchase health and fitness-related books for 40 percent off from the SXU Bookstore.
Light refreshments will be available from Panera Bread, Great American Bagel, Starbucks, and TCF Bank. Parents can enjoy a children's activity corner with bean bags and activities sponsored by The Little Gym.
