Watch the award-winning film “Miss Evers’ Boys” at SXU

Film chronicles the infamous Tuskegee experiment

Chicago (March 16, 2012) Saint Xavier University will host a screening of the critically acclaimed 1997 HBO film “Miss Evers’ Boys" on Wed., March 28. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. in McGuire Hall in the Warde Academic Center, located at SXU's Chicago campus, 3700 W. 103rd St. A discussion will follow the screening.

“Miss Evers’ Boys” is based on a true story about the now-infamous Tuskegee experiment, a secret government project that faked treatment for poor black men in order to study the progression of syphilis. When the experiment became public in 1972, it caused outrage and led to federal laws protecting people participating in studies using human subjects. The 118-minute film won five Emmy Awards, including "Best Made for Television Movie."
