SXU Health Center offers reduced-cost children’s physicals

Physicals for sports, camp, school, etc. available from May to September

Chicago (April 30, 2010) Saint Xavier University’s Health Center will offer reduced-cost comprehensive physicals for school-aged children Monday through Friday this summer at the Chicago campus, 3700 W. 103rd St.

Family Nurse Practitioners will be available to perform physicals for children 18 years old and younger for sports, camp and school. Physicals are available at a reduced cost of $30 from May 1 to September 30. Immunizations are available for an additional fee.

Appointments are required and parents must provide a copy of the child’s immunization record.

SXU administers more than 1,100 free H1N1 (Swine) Flu vaccinations

Chicago (Nov. 19, 2009) Saint Xavier University held a free H1N1 (Swine) Flu immunization clinic yesterday at its Chicago campus, vaccinating more than 1,100 members of the public and the University community.

“I’m very pleased with the response we had from the community,” said University Health Center Director Monica Ryan, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC. “I think this really speaks to our mission here at Saint Xavier, to serve the community.”

SXU to hold H1N1 (Swine) Flu Immunization Clinic

Free and open to the public

Chicago (Nov. 13, 2009) A limited supply of H1N1 (swine) flu immunizations will be available to the public, including members of the Saint Xavier University community. The SXU Health Center will administer vaccinations from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Shannon Center on the University’s Chicago campus, 3700 W. 103rd St. The Shannon Center is located on the west side of campus, best accessed from 103rd Street and Hamlin Avenue. Parking is available in Lot 1 west and south of the Center.

Vaccinations are free and will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. No appointment is necessary. The following high priority groups have been determined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):

  • Health care and emergency medical service personnel
  • Children and young adults ages six months through 24 years
  • Persons aged 25-64 years who have medical conditions which put them at high risk for complications from influenza
  • Household contacts and caregivers of children younger than six months of age
  • Pregnant women

The immunization clinic opens to the public at 2 p.m. on November 18. No parking is available on campus prior to 2 p.m. without a valid university parking permit. University parking policy will be strictly enforced.
