SXU President-designate meets with Illinois Congressional Delegation Members in Washington D.C.


First Capitol Hill Visit Representing SXU

Chicago (March 12, 2010) Saint Xavier University President-designate Christine M. Wiseman, J.D. visited Capitol Hill on Wednesday, March 10 to meet personally with Senator Dick Durbin, Senator Roland Burris, Congressman Dan Lipinski (IL-3), Congresswoman Judy Biggert (IL-13), Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. (IL-2), and staff members from the office of Congressman Luis Gutierrez (IL-4).

The purpose of the visit was to introduce Wiseman to the members, and to discuss academic program initiatives, government support, and the critical role that places like Saint Xavier have in preparing the next generation of leaders for our region and nation. Wiseman was joined by Vice President for University Advancement Steven Murphy, Ph.D.

Wiseman formally takes over as the 19th president of the University on June 1, 2010. With a Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctorate from Marquette University, Wiseman has spent nearly 30 highly successful years in Catholic higher education, most recently serving as Provost and Professor of Law at Loyola University of Chicago. At Loyola, she directed the academic division of the largest national Catholic research institution in the United States, offering 71 undergraduate majors, 85 master’s and 31 doctoral degrees to nearly 16,000 students through its ten schools, College of Arts and Sciences, and Institute of Pastoral Studies.
