SXU volunteers pack 360 lunches for needy people at area shelters

60 Service Through Action Team members volunteer together

Chicago (March 1, 2010) Sixty Saint Xavier University student, staff and alumni volunteers worked together to pack 360 brown bag lunches for needy people at area shelters last week at the University.

SXU’s Service Through Action Team (S.T.A.T.) members prepared peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, juice boxes, chips and candy for people at Pro Labore Dei, Port Ministries and the Oak Lawn PADS shelter.

“The generosity of the many volunteers, donors and local businesses, such as Ultra Foods, were crucial to the success of this project,” said Director of Alumni and Parent Relations Jamie Manahan.

The next S.T.A.T. brown bag service project is scheduled for April 28. For more information, please contact the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations at (773) 298-3316 or alumni@sxu.edu.
