SXU alum chosen to head Illinois State Police

Governor names Hiram Grau ’03 state police director; first Latino to lead force

Chicago (March 28, 2011) Saint Xavier University alumnus and former Chicago police officer Hiram Grau was chosen to head the Illinois State Police by Gov. Pat Quinn on Fri., March 25.

Grau comes from the Cook County state's attorney's office, where he worked as deputy chief of investigations. He received his MBA from SXU in 2003 and is a 27-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, where he started as a street patrol officer.

Born in Puerto Rico, Grau moved with his family to Chicago when he was young and joined the department in 1981.He spent much of his career working in or commanding gang investigation units and was one of three finalists for police superintendent in 2007.

A decorated Vietnam veteran, Grau is the first Latino to head the state police force.

University is a great one and the services and the facilities there are seems to be the best,although the spending much of the career working in or commanding gang investigation,is a good thing that involve in some of the important matter which can help a lot,great to see the information and mainly the details.
