SXU students, alumni donate more than 360 brown bag lunches to local shelters

Service Through Action Team provided nearly 2,500 lunches during the past year

Chicago (March 1, 2011) Students and alumni joined together to provide more than 360 lunches for those in need at Saint Xavier University’s Service Through Action Team Brown Bag Service Project on Feb. 23 at SXU’s Chicago campus.

Nearly 50 S.T.A.T. volunteers packed lunches containing peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, juice boxes, chips and snacks. The lunches were donated to Pro Labore Dei, Port Ministries and PRIDE Alternative School. S.T.A.T. donated nearly 2,500 lunches to local shelters during the past year.

“The generosity of the many volunteers, donors and local businesses such as Dominick’s in Merrionette Park and Entenmann’s Bakery Outlet in Oak Lawn were crucial for the success of this project,” said SXU Director of Alumni and Parent Relations Jamie Manahan.

The next S.T.A.T Brown Bag Service Project is scheduled for April 27. For more information or to make a donation, please contact the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations at (773) 298-3316 or alumni@sxu.edu.
