Chicago (Oct. 13, 2011) Saint Xavier University is pleased to announce a recent $1,096 donation from the Financial Planning Association of Illinois – South Suburban Council (FPA) to a scholarship for business students.

President Christine M. Wiseman, J.D. personally accepted the check for the Jim McCabe Scholarship, created in honor of beloved former Graham School of Management professor Jim McCabe, during a recent FPA meeting. The group made another $1,000 gift to the fund in August. To date, SXU has raised nearly $19,000 of the $20,000 minimum endowment goal. Once endowed, the Jim McCabe Scholarship will become the second endowed scholarship available for business students.

McCabe worked at SXU for more than 25 years before passing away from cancer in 2010. He dedicated himself to serving students as an instructor in the management and financial fraud examination programs, and served as assistant director of graduate and registered programs. He also was active in the FPA and founded its South Suburban Council.

"We appreciate Financial Planning Association of Illinois' generous support of this worthy cause, which honors Jim McCabe's memory and lays the foundation for future generations of business students," said Vice President for University Advancement Steven Murphy, Ed.D.
