SXU inaugurates Christine M. Wiseman, J.D., as its 19th President

Week of celebratory events concludes with Installation Procession and Ceremony

Chicago (Oct. 22, 2010) More than 500 people attended the Installation Ceremony of Christine M. Wiseman, J.D., as Saint Xavier University's 19th president on Oct. 22.

The University celebrated President Wiseman's Inauguration with a week of special events, culminating on Installation Day. After a special Morning Liturgy at which the Presidential Medallion was blessed, more than 300 SXU faculty and staff members wearing formal academic regalia processed to the Installation Ceremony. Board of Trustees Chairman John T. Costello performed the Investiture ceremony.

Dignitaries in attendance at the Installation Ceremony included State Sen. Edward D. Maloney (D-18), Cook County Board of Commissioners member the Hon. John P. Daley, Chicago Ald. Virginia Rugai (19th), Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus the Most Rev. John R. Gorman, Conference for Mercy Higher Education Board of Directors Chairwoman Barbara Person, J.D., and Sisters of Mercy West Midwest Community Representative Sr. Betty Smith, R.S.M. Delegates from more than 30 colleges and universities across the nation also attended.

The day concluded with an all-University picnic reception.
