SXU takes 3rd place at Illinois Broadcasters Association Student Silverdome Awards

Angelo Bonadonna awarded for exploration of Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood

Chicago (Nov. 11, 2008) Saint Xavier University alumnus Angelo Bonadonna, ’08, recently won 3rd place for Best Radio Long Format at the Illinois Broadcasters Association Student Silverdome Awards.

Bonadonna’s winning entry was his senior project documentary titled “Beyond Wrigleyville: An Exploration of Chicago’s Lakeview Neighborhood.” The win marks the third consecutive year WXAV was recognized at the Student Silverdome Awards.

“The students should be very proud of their hard work and dedication to WXAV,” said Peter Kreten, SXU Assistant Director of Campus Life: Student Media. “It is that dedication that makes WXAV not only an award-winning station, but the best college radio station in Chicago.”

The Student Silverdome Awards are held each year by the IBA to showcase excellence in student broadcasting. Other schools participating in this year’s competition were University of Illinois, North Central College and Illinois State University.
