SXU hosts orchestral tribute to the Grateful Dead

Second performance of the Dead Symphony ever held in the U.S.

Chicago (March 20, 2009) Saint Xavier University recently hosted a performance of the Dead Symphony, an orchestral tribute to the music of the iconic San Francisco rock band, the Grateful Dead.

Musicians from Saint Xavier, Marian Catholic High School and Vandercook College of Music performed the symphony, which was written by Lee Johnson.

The performance, which was held in the Ensemble Performance Space at Saint Xavier’s Chicago campus, was only the second time this unique composition has been performed in the United States.
