SXU kicks off 2009-10 Breakfast with the Experts series with Chicago White Sox Chief Marketing Officer Brooks Boyer

Next speaker: Mesirow Financial Chairman/CEO James C. Tyree on Wed., Feb. 3, 2010

Chicago (Nov. 23, 2009) Brooks Boyer, vice president and chief marketing officer for the Chicago White Sox, kicks off the 2009-10 Breakfast with the Experts speaker series with his lecture “The Business of Baseball.” The event is sponsored by Saint Xavier University and the Beverly Area Planning Association, and begins at 8 a.m. on Wed., Dec. 16 in the Warde Academic Center’s Butler Reception Room at the University’s Chicago campus, 3700 W. 103rd St.

Breakfast with the Experts brings notable business, community and civic leaders to the south side to share insights, experience and industry knowledge with local business people. The breakfasts are interactive and designed to engage all participants through networking opportunities, a keynote address and a question-and-answer session.

Boyer joined the White Sox in April 2004 and made an immediate impact on the team’s marketing, promotions, advertising and in-game entertainment. Boyer’s goal was to create an exciting ballpark atmosphere to complement the action on the field. In 2006 and 2007, more than 5.64 million fans attended games setting a club record. The team’s “take the field” audio and video montage is beloved by Sox fans. In 2009, the White Sox launched Silver Chalice Ventures, a digital and mobile advisory, development, implementation and management firm. Boyer serves as Silver Chalice’s CEO.

Boyer has increased the size of the White Sox sales staff and has strongly emphasized the team’s season ticket and group sales efforts. He directs the club’s advertising efforts, which included the popular “Grinder Rules” campaigns of 2005-06 and “Us vs. Them,” “Sox Pride” creative spots in 2004 and last season’s “There are Traditions and there are White Sox Traditions” campaign. Boyer also is responsible for the club’s relationships with its broadcast partners, WGN-TV, Comcast SportsNet Chicago, WCIU-TV and the White Sox flagship radio station, The Score Sports Radio (WSCR, 670 AM).

Mesirow Financial Chairman and CEO James C. Tyree will speak at the next Breakfast with the Experts event on Wed., Feb. 3, 2010.
