Cougars defeat St. Francis (Ind.) 36-24 for 11-0 season and first Mid-States Football Association Mideast League title
Chicago (Nov. 9, 2009) Saint Xavier University football defeated perennial rival St. Francis (Ind.) 36-24 to claim its first perfect 11-0 season and its first Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mideast League title. Video coverage of this momentous victory for SXU is featured below.
The No. 6 ranked Cougars broke the No. 8 ranked St. Francis' 56-game home winning streak on Nov. 7, 2009. The Cougars now await their seeding and pairing for the 2009 NAIA Football Championship Series. The NAIA officially announces postseason seeds and match-ups beginning at 1:30 p.m. central time on Sun., Nov. 15 at www.collegefanz.com.
