Saint Xavier University holds “Ask a Pro: Green Careers”

Event focuses on earth-friendly career paths

Chicago (April 3, 2009) Anyone interested in pursuing an environmentally conscious career should attend Saint Xavier University’s “Ask A Pro: Green Careers” event at 6p.m., April 6.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be in the Butler Reception Room of the Warde Academic Center at Saint Xavier’s Chicago campus, 3700 W. 103rd Street.

The evening will focus on earth-friendly career paths. Saint Xavier’s Counseling and Career Center and Office of Sustainability have scheduled two authorities to speak about green careers: Paige Finnegan, LEED AP, Director of Sustainable Development at the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Council, Chicagoland Green Collar Jobs Initiative; and Ed Ferrier, PE, LEED AP, GT Mechanical.

“The field of green careers is growing so rapidly that we wanted an opportunity to educate ourselves and our students/alumni about how individuals can prepare for employment working with sustainability issues,” said Jean Riordan, director of SXU Career Services.
